Inside the handbook

Every entry explains one part of how a licensed casino works, with the real numbers from the terms.

  1.

Three clauses in a casino bonus's terms decide whether a bonus balance ever turns into money you can withdraw: the maximum bet rule, the game contribution table and the expiry date. Each one can cancel the bonus and any winnings made with it, even when you have met the wagering requirement on paper. This guide shows where each clause sits, what it says in plain English, and what it costs you. Where these clauses live A casino licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority usually publishes two sets of rules: the general terms and conditions for your account, and separate bonus terms for each promotion. The three clauses below are almost always in the bonus terms, often under headings like "Bonus Policy", "Promotional Terms" or "Significant Terms". Read them before you accept a bonus, not after. Once a bonus is active on your account, most casinos apply its rules t…

A withdrawal at a Malta licensed casino is a request, not a transfer. When you press the button, the money leaves your playable balance and waits while the operator checks your identity, your payment method and your account history. Only after those checks does it go back to you. Most delays happen in that waiting stage, and most of them can be avoided before you ever ask for a payout. The four stages of a withdrawal Every operator words this differently, but the path your money takes has the same shape. You submit the request. You choose an amount and a method in the cashier. The amount moves out of your balance into a pending state. The request waits. Many operators hold requests for a set period before anyone reviews them. The terms page usually calls this a pending period or processing time. The operator reviews it. Staff or automated systems check that your identity documents are approv…

A deposit limit caps how much money you can put into your casino account over a set period, such as a day, a week or a month. At a casino licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority, you'll be asked about limits after you register and before your first deposit. Lowering a limit works straight away. Raising or removing one takes 24 hours. That's the short answer. The rest of this guide explains where the rule comes from, how to set a limit that actually works, and what the 24 hour delay is for. Where the rule comes from The MGA's Player Protection Directive (Directive 2 of 2018) sets the rules every online operator with an MGA consumer licence has to follow. On limits, it says four things that matter to you: The operator must offer deposit limits. The operator must offer wagering limits, which cap how much you can bet over a period. The operator may also offer loss limits and time or se…

A wagering requirement is the total amount you have to bet, in total turnover, before a bonus (or the winnings it produced) can be withdrawn. A "20x wagering requirement" on a $50 bonus means you need to place $1,000 in total bets before that bonus becomes withdrawable, not that you need to win $1,000. The Basic Calculation The formula is straightforward: bonus amount multiplied by the wagering requirement multiplier equals the total turnover you need to generate. Find the bonus amount. A $50 bonus. Find the multiplier. A 20x wagering requirement. Multiply them. $50 times 20 equals $1,000 in total turnover required. That $1,000 figure is turnover, meaning the sum of every bet you place while clearing the requirement, not $1,000 of net losses and not $1,000 you need to deposit again. Placing 100 spins of $10 each adds up to $1,000 in turnover, regardless of whether those spins won or…

Identity verification at a Malta licensed casino isn't triggered the moment you sign up. It's triggered by a specific transaction total, a fixed time window follows it, and withdrawals stop entirely until it's done. Here's exactly when each of those things happens and what documents get asked for. Opening an Account Doesn't Require Verification Registering an account only requires basic, unverified information: name, address and date of birth. No government ID, proof of address or payment verification is legally required at this stage under Malta's implementing rules for the sector. What Actually Triggers Full Verification Full identity verification becomes mandatory once your cumulative deposits or transactions with an operator reach €2,000, under the joint FIAU and Malta Gaming Authority implementing procedures for remote gaming. This is a running total across all …
